Interval Trainer
Listen to two notes and identify the distance between them. Build from core intervals to melodic and harmonic mastery.
Set up your listening
Practice allows unlimited listening. Homework allows three plays per question. Melodic intervals play one note after the other; harmonic intervals play both together.
Which interval do you hear?
First noteSecond note
Listen to the distance: melodic intervals can rise or fall; harmonic intervals sound together. The interval name describes the distance, regardless of direction. A unison repeats the same pitch; an octave spans 12 semitones. The tritone can be called an augmented fourth or diminished fifth; here both use one answer, “Tritone”.
